Private file sharing

Keep controlled files out of public discovery.

Choose the right visibility before sending, add a password when the URL alone is not enough, and retain the ability to revoke the share afterward.

A controlled smpl.gg file share with private access settings

Clear visibility

Use unlisted for direct-link distribution or private visibility when the share needs the strictest available access mode.

Layered controls

Add a password, expiry date, or view cap instead of asking one setting to solve every access concern.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between unlisted and private?

Unlisted content is available to anyone with the link but excluded from discovery and search. Private content uses the strictest access mode and is not publicly available.

Does a password encrypt the file?

No. It gates access to the hosted share. Use client-side encryption too when the file itself requires end-to-end protection.

Will a private file appear in Google?

No. Private and unlisted shares are not eligible for public search indexing.

Can I remove access later?

Yes. Revoke the share or configure an expiry or maximum view count in advance.
